I bought this reflex hammer with brush and pin for neurological exams because my old hammer - which previously belonged to my father, Arvid Ronning, MD ! - finally broke down. The large rubber head had fallen out and the smaller one was getting mangled. This replacement is similar but, unfortunately, not quite as good. The rubber mallet head is fine. The pin is a bonus (mine was lost quite some time ago). The brush, however, is a bit too stiff - for testing response to soft, you want something genuinely soft that does not have crossover activation of pressure-responsive nerve endings. Plus, the handle is shorter, the overall weight slightly less, which means the mechanical advantage during reflex testing is not as robust. But it is okay for an inexpensive, portal, old-fashioned medical tool. Just be prepared to spend more if you want more.
